Frequently Asked Questions

The questions we hear most often about the Japan Winter League — answered straight.

Q

What is JWL?

A

JWL is an international baseball league that runs every November and December in Okinawa, Japan. For one month, it puts aspiring pros from around the world on the same field as active professionals, using the off-season to sharpen their game.

Q

Who can apply?

A

Anyone 15 or older with baseball experience. If you're currently in school, just reach out and we'll work it out.

Q

How much does it cost?

A

Fees, lodging, and what's included are all listed on the Entry page.

Q

How many scouts show up?

A

So far, scouts from MLB, NPB, and other organizations — more than 40 teams across 8 countries — have attended JWL.

Q

What's the difference between the Advance League and the Tryout League?

A

The Advance League is for players who mainly belong to professional clubs such as NPB, IPBL, or KBO, with the aim of further skill development.
The Tryout League is for players looking for a place to play — alongside developing their skills, they showcase their ability and aim for the next stage.
Players who apply through the entry form are, in principle, placed in the Tryout League.
* The league you join may change depending on the selection results.

Q

Can you arrange a hotel for family members coming to watch?

A

Lodging and transport for anyone other than the participating player must be arranged on your own.
Please note that participation fees are non-refundable even if family members stay at a separate facility.

A

The office can process the change for you. Please contact info@japanleague.co.jp.

Q

Can I get a refund if I cancel after payment?

A

Participation fees are non-refundable for cancellations made for personal reasons.
However, if the league is not held or in other cases due to the organizer, we will refund the fee less a set handling charge.

Q

I belong to a university or high school baseball club. Can I take part?

A

Players belonging to teams affiliated with the University Baseball Federation or the High School Baseball Federation are, in principle, not eligible.
For details, please contact the office at info@japanleague.co.jp.

When will I receive detailed information about the league?
